Aftercare: texts and emails, all year

Still with families
at the first holidays
Still there at the holidays

MemorialBooked's funeral home aftercare program sends each family you serve a year of texts and emails in your director's name. First comes a check-in the week after the service, then a message before the first holidays, one on the birthday and one on the anniversary. Our team writes them with you, and replies reach your director. Our funeral home aftercare program sends each family a year of texts and emails in your director's name: after the service, at the holidays, on the birthday and anniversary.

The year after

A year of hearing from you

Request a call

Every owner means to stay in touch after the service. Then the next call comes, and the one after it, and the list on the desk goes cold. Here, each message leaves on its date and every reply comes back to your director.

Good intentions, no schedule

A month of families left without follow-up: an unanswered weekend Facebook message, a stalled plan, no reminder and no forms

Calls you meant to make

  • 1Names on paper. This spring's families sit on a legal pad beside the office phone, waiting for a quiet afternoon.
  • 2The holidays come fast. December brings four services in one week, and the calls never get made.
  • 3Dates nobody tracked. The anniversary passes, and nothing goes out from the home.
  • 4The next need. When that family needs a funeral home again, they start on Google.

Behind the messages

Written with you, sent all year

Our team builds the schedule with you. Your staff see who got which message, and who wrote back.

Your funeral home's family journey in five stages, each gap marked, and the campaign planned to fill it.

When a case closes, the family joins the aftercare schedule. You see every message they will get and the date it leaves. Change a word, pause a family or skip a date from the same screen.

Through the year

Messages that arrive on the hard days

  • Week one

The week after the service ends

The relatives fly home, the casseroles stop, and the house goes quiet. That is when the first text arrives, from the director the family already knows. The dates come from the arrangement your staff typed once: the service day, the birthday, the date of death. Nobody enters them again.

    • Whenseven days after the service, by text.
    • Datestaken from the arrangement, so nobody types them twice.
Steps that win back missed appointments, September's no-shows rebooked, and a family choosing a new time by text
  • Holidays

A message before the first holidays

The first Thanksgiving and the first December are the ones families brace for. A message from your home arrives a week ahead, saying you are thinking of them. A family you served in March gets it, and so does one from October. Each is timed from the date of death.

    • Whenthe week before Thanksgiving, and again in early December.
    • Whoeach family your home served this past year.
The rebooking screen with families due back this week, and one booking their next meeting by text
  • Months later

A spouse asks about planning their own

Aftercare messages never sell. Months after a service, a spouse may write back to ask about their own plans. The director who served them answers in person, at the family's pace, with no sales texts. Our pre-need ads go to people planning ahead, never to families in their first year.

    • Nevera sales pitch inside an aftercare message.
    • Thena personal answer from the director who served them, and nothing automatic.
Lead nurture series of five timed texts and emails, with the first visits each one booked from new inquiries
  • Remembered

    The birthday and the anniversary

On the birthday of the person who died, the family gets a short text. Another follows on the first anniversary. Both use their name and come from your director, and neither asks the family for anything.

    • Birthdaya few lines that remember them by name.
    • Anniversaryone year on, a note from the director who served them.
Check-in texts sent after each meeting, with reply rates for new and returning families
  • Reviews

    A review, asked for gently

Some families would like a public way to say thanks. After the service, a short text carries the home's Google review link, ready to write in. When a review comes in, our team writes the reply and posts it on your profile.

    3 → 1vendors to call

We canceled three vendors. The website, obituaries and reviews now sit with one team that picks up the phone.

    1 minuteto the first reply

Families used to reach voicemail at 2 a.m. These days a text reaches them within the minute, and I read the details over coffee.

    11pre-planning meetings, month one

Our pre-planning list sat untouched for years. The follow-up texts booked eleven meetings in month one.

    0paper contracts

Arrangements used to mean a stack of paper. Families now sign the contract and put down the deposit on their phones.

    31 → 104Google reviews

Each family hears from us about a review after the service ends. Our Google reviews went from 31 to just over a hundred in twelve months.

6 questions

Won't a text feel cold to a grieving family?

Not when it comes from a director they sat with. Each text is short, personal, and signed with that director's name.

Can we rewrite the messages?

Yes. Our team writes the year of messages with you before launch, in your home's voice. Later you can change any wording, add a date such as a religious holiday, or drop one.

Who answers when families write back?

The reply comes into your home's inbox in MemorialBooked, next to the case. The director gets a text alert and answers from their own phone, using the home's number.

Can a family opt out?

Replying STOP ends the texts at once, and every email carries an unsubscribe link. It happens without a call to the office.

Can we add families we served before?

Yes. Send us last year's list at setup, and we add each family where they are in their year.

Does every family we serve have to be added?

No. Families join when their case closes, and your staff can leave any family off, or pause one, from the case.
